Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean - 6

That took much longer than I expected it to; I sincerely apologize for the delay.

Translation Notes: Any untranslated SFX or text is just that, SFX. I don't like translating it, don't like making up equivalent noises, and really, not many people really read the little translation notes at the bottom of the effect most of the time anyway. I'm not the biggest fan of Yuuichi's manga, but I do appreciate the subtle differences between it and the anime. There's a tad more bonding here between Elena and Ao that wasn't quite as apparent in the anime, and things play out a little differently in general. For instance, here Blanc is only too aware of the pointed remarks his daughter makes about him, and it's clear that he feels deeply affected by them, compared to the facade the series had him play out. It's interesting stuff that adds just a sliver more dimension than what we were already given, and I definitely like that aspect of the manga.

On another note, the art really is a hit and miss. There are scenes where the art is pretty and the characters occasionally even border on adorable, but just as easily there can be a rather lanky and apish look about them on the next page. I have to say I miss the soundtrack too, so much so that I had it playing in the background while I worked on it. Regardless though, I'm just glad for an excuse to put Astral Ocean back out in the open for a little while longer, so though it's not my favorite medium of the series, I'm more than happy to resume work on it.
